In this workshop, participants will analyze and discuss the manifestations of white supremacy culture in our institutional lives. Using Tema Okun’s seminal text from Dismantling Racism: A Workbook for Social Change Group as a prerequisite, we will reflect on and examine these forces, and identity ways to disrupt them.
If you list the aria, then you must be prepared to sing it. In this session, participants will work on drafting anti-racism vision statements for their organization. They will also leave with a planning tool for moving through initiatives and toward goals that reflect a more equitable institution.
Utilizing popular education methods this session gives participants the opportunity to audit and assess racial equity measures across multiple dimensions of institutional life. This audit process peels the layers of the institutional onion to uncover inequitable impacts of seemingly neutral policies and systems.
